Postdoctoral Researcher Position
BRAVE Lab – University of Notre Dame
Director: Dr. Laura Miller-Graff

The BRAVE Lab (Building Resilience After Violence Exposure), as a part of the Department of Psychology at the University of Notre Dame, seeks applicants for a postdoctoral position to support ongoing research on psychological interventions with violence-exposed children and families. The BRAVE Lab has several on-going NIH-funded studies in this area (R01HD098092 and R01HD098092-S1; R01MH128929; R01HD114597). Across these studies, our lab examines the effects of brief, group-based interventions focused on addressing the effects of chronic forms of violence, including intimate partner violence, child maltreatment, and sociopolitical violence. In each of these projects, we conduct family wide assessments of the effects of interventions, with the goal of understanding both indirect and intergenerational effects of intervention. Our research occurs in multiple global contexts, and in each, considers the importance of culturally and contextually sound practices that enhance access to care for marginalized children and families. Candidates are expected to have a completed PhD by the start of their appointment, have a strong emerging publication record, and articulate clearly how the postdoctoral experience will contribute to their program of research and professional trajectory. Candidates from a wide variety of subdisciplines in psychology (e.g., clinical, developmental, quantitative) are encouraged to apply, provided a clear scholarly interest in our ongoing research. Our research projects include the collection of longitudinal, multimethod data. As such, candidates with strong quantitative skills, including in structural equation modeling and multilevel modeling with longitudinal data are preferred. Our studies include observational, qualitative, and daily diary data, so candidates with experience and interest in observational coding, thematic analysis, or intensive longitudinal data analysis are also desirable. Given that our approach to research is community-engaged and often includes multiple project sites, candidates should be able to communicate clearly and work comfortably in large teams and with individuals of diverse professional backgrounds.

Position expectations include contributions to the administrative management of ongoing projects, supervision of graduate students and staff, and data management, analysis and dissemination via publications and conference presentations. Candidates interested in grant-writing (e.g., F32, K) are also welcomed. This position will not include postdoctoral clinical training or supervised clinical work.

Candidates should submit a cover letter describing their research interests and interests in ongoing BRAVE lab projects, a CV, contact information for three recommenders, and two representative publications to Dr. Laura Miller-Graff at lmiller8@nd.edu. Three letters of recommendation will be solicited for promising candidates following the initial review of applications, which will begin January 21st

The postdoctoral position will be for one year, with the possibility of renewal. This is a full-time, inperson position based in South Bend, IN.
